The view looking straight up alongside the trunk. If it were not for the thorns, this would make a great climbing tree.

The massive trunk of this large tree looked ordinary where it met, and then entered the ground. Or if you prefer, where it emerged from the ground.

The trunk of this tree appeared smooth from a distance, but up close its trunk was covered in small thorns. Here the thorns were about the same size as rose thorns.

One limb was oddly twisted into a corkscrew shape. Notice the presence of small thorns even on the higher overhanging limbs.

The massive limbs supported a wide span, placing its full and lush leaves far from the central trunk.

Despite the thorns on its trunk, this tree's leaves were still food for insects, most likely in caterpillar or grub form.
