Stakes, As Found Art
A stake used to label plants had suffered through too many rains.
It was gradually delaminating and opening as if it wanted to become a flower.
When a plant was purchased at a home improvement center, or at a garden center, it was usually provided with
a stake that described the plant. This particular stake labeled purchased ground cover.
A wooden stake leaned against a recycling bin. This stake had been used before and now stood waiting to be used again.
A tall, highly visible stake marked irrigation water access. This particular stake was used to prevent tree pruners from
accidentally breaking the water access.
We converted to plastic stakes, because the wooden ones delaminated. This particular stake indicated that we had
planted crocus flowers in front of ground cover.
Another problem with wooden label stakes was that the lettering on them faded over time and became illegible.
A bright yellow tent peg was used to mark water access. This helped prevent tree pruners and playing children from
breaking that water access.
